The rest of teacher appreciation week

The rest of teacher appreciation week went so fast. Hard to believe we only have a few days left before my change to the summer program! Here are a few things my director did for us the rest of the week.

Cute bags with reusable cups that can be frozen!

A highlighter, bandaids, and a pack of s'more fixins that says "we need s'more teachers like you!' 

Everyone's container said 'Most Popular' and it took me until later that night when I was suddenly "Ooooh... most POP-ular! Popcorn!" I'm a little slow, but there are few things I enjoy more than a good play on words! (the main reason I love OPI nail polish so much.) So many snacks!

We also had a little luncheon on Thursday that I didn't take a picture of, but I was all over that fruit tray. Good week.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week - to me!

And all other educators of course. 

I often feel that even though I went to college, write lesson plans, do multiple assessments on my children, and work very hard everyday at what I do (with very limited time off, being at a full year school), that preschool teachers are just thought of as babysitters. And while I do babysit, and love that as well, I am an educator. The children just happen to be very young, and with us for about 10 hours sometimes. 

While I do get credit for what I do, I worry that other preschool teachers and daycare providers might not.

The agency I work for expects a lot from us, but they truly do appreciate what we do and I'm grateful they take time to let us know.

This morning my director provided us with a super cute bucket of breakfast goodies. It's like she knew I was craving a banana this morning! And I was more excited than a person should be about my little pink bucket. It will match my pink wire basket in the bathroom perfectly.

Also, I am horrible with the picture frame app. I'm going to work on that.

Paighton and Ashleigh Day

Tuesday I was finally feeling better. I picked up Paighton from school while Allison and Sean went to pick up their car. We went to the library, fun- Ashleigh style, to pick out books for my preschoolers and a few for Paighton to read. I'm trying to get her to read Harry Potter, but she said she isn't ready yet. Hopefully this summer! She did do a fantastic job reading me jokes in the car, though.

After I treated her to a rainbow cone at Zip Dip while she did homework. We spent a lot of the rest of the afternoon reading and hanging out. Though it was just for a weekday afternoon, we had fun. I'm so happy that I get this time to know her better now that she's back from Italy. 

Sick Day

The past week I have been too busy to breathe. I'm overloaded with work and exhausted but at the same time trying to keep myself busy so I don't miss Josh too much. I do anyway.
I guess today I'm receiving my punishment from my body. I woke up and knew I was going to get sick.
So I've been spending the day napping, catching up on magazines, watching Glee while waiting for the nausea pains to pass, and waiting for my Sunday call from Josh.

Children's book V.2

The children in my room are rarely interested in anything for more than 5 minutes, but when they finally like something it they stick with it for weeks! We are still reading Audrey and Don Wood books.
I'm always changing characters names in the book to children's names in the classroom. It makes them laugh an more interested in what I'm reading. This week we have been reading Silly Sally and made it into our own class book. I printed off pictures of the children to flip to have them "walk upside down" and added their name to the repeated sentence in the story. I've done this a few times over the years but it also pops up with any search for Silly Sally on Pinterest.

Easter Weekend

I'm still recovering from the Easter weekend. I babysat, cleaned my classroom and the storage closet, didn't feel well, worked, then made my 3 stops to see family. I'm pooped.
It's rare that my brother, sister, and I are ever together long enough to take a picture. And this even started out as him trying to photobomb Katie and me.
Even though I'm still tired, I'm so lucky to have been able to see so much of my family in one day. And woot woot for a 9 minute phone call from the husband!
